General Information
Heating & Lighting:
There is a log fire in the lounge with logs on the balcony, log basket and the log store under the balcony. Please take care when lighting the fire and use the fireguard if unattended.
There is also a wood burning stove in the kitchen with a supply of logs and coal.
There is a fireplace in the upstairs lounge. Please do not light fires in this room, as it is too close to the bedrooms to be safe.
The house has central heating, with the boiler on the landing. It will be timed to go on and off during the day and evening.
If you would like to change this there are instructions on the front of the boiler.In the unlikely event of a power cut, there is a supply of candles. The trip switch is in the cupboard by the front door.

Candles:
The house never looks better than the light of the log fire and candlelight. Please take care when using candles. We have supplied candleholders to be used at all times. Please do not leave candles unattended.
Linen/towels:
The very best quality linen and towels are supplied. There is one set of bedding including feather duvet and pillows, covers, sheets and pillowcases per bed per week and one bath towel and 1 hand towel per person. Please bring more towels with you if required.
Steps:
As the house is on several levels there a number of steps inside and in the garden. Please take care with young children or the infirm. If you have any concerns we can discuss this at the time of booking.
Low beams/doors:
As the house is very old, please mind your head on low beams. The beams in the loft room are low, please take extra care.
Children:
We can supply a cot and high chair on request. Please advise us in advance if you would require them. Please bring your own mattress protector and bedding for your baby. We will always welcome children but please beware of the above issues such as steps, open fireplace, hot radiators and many staircases in the house. The front door has access straight onto the main road, although is bolted top and bottom to ensure children can not open it.Young children in the garden should be supervised, due to steps and all gates should be kept locked for their safety. There is a play area with swings, slide, tent etc.

Please note the above issues with steps or call us to discuss your concerns.
Basic supplies:
We are happy to supply you with milk, tea, sugar, bread, butter and jam in case you would like some tea and toast on arrival. Also some cleaning goods and toilet roll. (With some other goodies around the house.)
There is a Tesco store and Co-op both within walking distance and both open until 10pm Monday to Saturday and until 4pm on a Sunday.
Parking:
There are 2 parking spaces allocated for you in front of the wall as you drive in the driveway. There are two car parks within a few minutes walk. You have to drive through a narrow entrance to the property. It would be difficult to fit a range rover down for example.
Bicycles:
We welcome you to bring your bicycles and leave them in the garden. Please do not take them in to the house. You can always put them under the balcony.
Waste/ Rubbish:
Please put rubbish bags in the bins provided at the rear of the property. Thank you.
Country living:
As you probably know country life is very different, with some shops closing around 5pm or earlier and take away’s with ‘deliveries’ are not common to say the least… although we have some excellent Chinese takeaways in walking distance! (along with Indian takeaway, pizza and fish & chips!)
Shops, Restaurants, pubs.
There are a number of the above in the town. Details of the very best will be left at the house for you.
Banks & cash points:
We have an HSBC open until 4pm Monday – Friday and a Nat West open the same hours. There is also a Halifax open until 5pm. Most other major branches can be found in the next town a 15 – 20 min drive away. There are a number of cash machines in Ruthin.
Post office:
We have a post office in the town where you can also make some bank transactions.
Doctors/Dentist / Hospital:
There is information in the house of your nearest Doctor, Dentist and Hospital.
Tourist Information Centre:
This is situated in the craft centre opposite Tesco.
